The Hassan II Mosque is the largest mosque in Morocco and the 13th largest in the world. It is located in Casablanca and was completed in 1993. The mosque was built to commemorate the former King Hassan II and is the only mosque in Morocco that non-Muslims are permitted to enter. It has two minarets that are the highest in the world, reaching 210 m (689 ft) above the ground. The mosque has a large central hall that can accommodate up to 25,000 worshippers and is surrounded by a courtyard with a capacity of 80,000 worshippers. The prayer hall is made of marble and adorned with intricate mosaics and zelliges, as well as a retractable roof made of glass and steel. The mosque also features a museum, library, and lecture hall. The Hassan II Mosque has become a major tourist attraction in Casablanca, attracting both Muslims and non-Muslims from around the world.
