Matsumoto Castle is a flatland-style Japanese castle located in the city of Matsumoto, in Nagano Prefecture. It is also known as the "Crow Castle" due to its black exterior. The castle is one of Japan's oldest and most complete original castles. It was built in the Sengoku period (15th to 16th centuries) and is listed as a National Treasure of Japan. The castle has six stories and five tiers, with an inner citadel on the top floor. It is surrounded by a deep moat, high stone walls and a few turrets. The castle also includes a tea house, a small shrine, and a museum.
