Tunupa Volcano is a stratovolcano located in southwestern Bolivia, near the Salar de Uyuni salt flat. It has an elevation of 5,432 meters (17,818 feet) above sea level and is considered a sacred site by the indigenous Aymara people. The volcano has a distinct summit crater and has erupted at least six times in the past 10,000 years, with the most recent activity occurring around 370 AD. The area around Tunupa Volcano is known for its unique geological features, such as the Salar de Uyuni, geysers, hot springs, and colorful lagoons. It is a popular destination for tourists and hikers.
